This Desktop Support position provides 3rd level (expert/advanced) technical expertise in the area of application packaging. This position requires extensive knowledge and experience with application deployment tools such as SCCM, LANDesk, Group Policy, etc. and with application packaging tools such as Installshield, ORCA, Instedit, etc. Knowledge of scripting languages (VBscript, Powershell, Windows Command Line) is also required.
This position receives requests to package desktop applications (off-the-shelf and in-house developed) by way of a ticked based request system. Depending on the nature of the request, the software is to be formally evaluated, licensing requirements researched, installation steps documented and final work approved. Strong candidates will have 4 or more years of experience in a Desktop Support position in which the primary focus was application packaging and deployment.
This Desktop Support person relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This Desktop Support person is expected to work in a team and collaborate on findings, techniques, and strategies. A wide degree of creativity, self-direction, and latitude is expected. This position may require evening and weekend hours.
