DESCRIPTION: SOFTWARE ENGINEER –
This position will be working on the Unemployment Insurance (UI) business intelligence team to provide development and production support for UI data warehouses and other emerging business intelligence platforms. The current data warehouses support mission-critical business activities and reporting needs for DWD and are loaded on a daily basis and require on-call support.
This position is needed for advanced business analysis, database design, ETL design, and data warehouse support for enabling UI reporting and data-driven decision making. Best-qualified candidates will have strong experience using Oracle, Erwin, Informatica and Business Objects in a data warehouse environment. Knowledge of Tableau, Python and other business intelligence tools is desirable.
This position will do the following: work with advanced-level accountants and other business customers to understand their data analysis and reporting requirements; design data warehouse table structure to satisfy business requirements, identify data source, develop strategies for data extraction from source systems, design transformation, and loading into data warehouse target systems; develop, implement, and follow technical and process standards; develop strategies for system fault tolerance, data recovery and purge; work to improve the efficiency of data warehouse applications through the use of indexes, compression, and other techniques; work within both formal and “agile” application development project management methodologies; function as a database liaison on the business intelligence team.
Qualified candidates must have prior experience in data warehouse design and construction. Preference will also be given to candidates with experience with insurance and accounting data and data warehouses
